Web Notes is a online note taking tool. As you can see, it allows you to highlight various pages, blog posts or academic articles you find online. If you’re like me, taking notes as you read is critical for remembering key points and capturing your own thoughts. Writing notes as you read may help increase your chance of recalling the material. Now, you’re done recording your notes, what’s next?
How about organizing those same notes and highlighted sections of whatever it was you found worthy of highlighting. But it doesn’t stop there, now you want to share it with a friend, professor or blogging buddy; Web Notes can help you this with its share your comments feature.

How I Use Web Notes:
- Personal filing folder. Track interesting quotes, concepts, blogging tips and so on. I create specific folders and organize content accordingly- things that pertain to my blogging, site, writing and so on.
- Academic. While sitting in class last month, the professor said something about a scholar I like (of course I didn’t agree). I used web notes to highlight various points in an online article that pertained to that scholar and topic. Next, I took notes as I read this long article (helpful, some forget what they read sooner than others). Then I sent an email to this professor with the article I read, includes annotated points and my personal comments/feedback.
- Blogging. I can’t share all the goodies- well… okay, I’ll play nice. When reading blog posts I find valuable and worthy of a quality comment (long comments don’t always make good comments), I’ll record my thoughts on a Sticky Note (a sweet feature offered by Web Notes). I understand this isn’t a popular thing to do as most people skim (speed read) and quickly move to the next site. When the time comes to comment, I have my favorite points and ideas in front of my eyes to quickly review or copy and paste into the comment section.
- Review and Share your findings. This is where bookmarking quite doesn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong- I use Delicious and Foxmarks (now Xmarks) but I want to return to the sites and articles I’ve read and relive what I thought or felt about that particular blog post or article. Web Notes allows me to do so. At the end of the month or year, I can easily throw together a collection of thoughts, lessons learned and so on (to share with my blog readers).
- What Else?
If you’re a Web Notes (blog) user (if not- let me know, will send invite), please share how Web Notes has benefited your blogging, organization, work or school work.

I tried EverNote but it wasn’t quite the way I’ve expected it to be. WebNotes seems to be a pretty good alternative to keep me sane with all the information coming through my head.
Do you actually need an invitation code, Mig? Oh, thanks for the heads up anyway. I love the idea of “Go green. Make notes online”…..
