I recently told my younger brother that if he wants to improve his writing, he must keep practicing, but is that all it takes?
Nope, more is required. Reading, reading and more reading. Develop a list of good writers and blogs to review as often as possible. It helps to have a sense or image of solid writing.
Michael Stelzner released his third annual Top Ten Blogs for Writers last Tuesday. Reading the blogs listed below will serve to only improve your writing.

I recommend the Grammar Girl podcasts. She cleaver, witty and informative. Her short podcasts will help you to avoid those common writing mistakes.

You made a great point…part of it is practice. And the other part includes reading, watching what others are doing so that you can learn from them until you develop your own style and voice.
